Since 2008, when the Hip-Hop Association declared it Year of the Hip-Hop Woman, we have produced and supported over a dozen events from workshops to panel discussions. We have gathered an impressive advisory and host committee with notable leaders and artists. We have formed alliances with collectives, non-profits, and arts and education institutions to build a strong foundation. We have gathered a talented team to research, design and shape our Fresh, Bold and So Def resource book on Women in Hip-Hop that will be released September 2009.
The next phase of the Womanhood Learning Project is to raise funds to complete the Fresh, Bold and So Def: Women in Hip-Hop Changing the Game book and achieve our goal of raising $5,000 for the Ladies First fund (the first grant for women in Hip-Hop). It would be great to have you join us at New York University on June 25, 2009, as we come together in solidarity to empower women in Hip-Hop.
