Young people rallied in Bangkok for an Asian Youth Climate workshop.
350.org's Asian Youth Climate Workshop in Bangkok from 350.org on Vimeo.
This Oct 2-6, 350.org brought nearly 80 youth climate leaders from across 10 Asian countries to Bangkok to make their voices heard at the United Nations Climate Meetings. Over the weekend, youth attended an Asian Youth Climate Workshop, and on Monday, they joined thousands in a march to the UN building.
The story of our lives....
Radio Raheem: Let me tell you the story of "Right Hand, Left Hand." It's a tale of good and evil. Hate: It was with this hand that Cane iced his brother. Love: These five fingers, they go straight to the soul of man. The right hand: the hand of love. The story of life is this: Static. One hand is always fighting the other hand; and the left hand is kicking much ass. I mean, it looks like the right hand, Love, is finished. But, hold on, stop the presses, the right hand is coming back. Yeah, he got the left hand on the ropes, now, that's right. Ooh, it's the devastating right and Hate is hurt, he's down. Left-Hand Hate K.O.ed by Love.

wow...
I haven't been able to really sit down and reflect on things as much as I would want to..but I guess this morning shall be the day I do this...
School wise..I've been rethink my majors..I'm looking into adding Women and Gender Studies with my already double major studies (that including Political Science and Latin American Caribbean Studies) ..I have also been enjoying my time volunteering at the Women and Gender Studies Library...here I have met so many powerful dope beautiful ladies..and many opportunities have open up through my involvement in this library...(BTW folks I may be looking into pursuing my PHD...ayeeeee....wish me luck for there is this program I will be applying to in order to pursue that dream of mine)...in addition to that I will be joining this dance group and looking into doing the Vagina Monologue this spring :)
My activism side has not been balanced out this fall. I guess with the rise of new things in my life I haven't had time to really focus on many of the projects I was involved in during the summer. Don't get me wrong I am still involved in the whole Dream Act/undocumented youth campaign , I am still involved in women empowerment, youth work, community organizing,etc....One things I want to work on is indigenous rights ..will keep you posted on that journey
As i reflect the course of this fall...I have come to realize that my role in one of the organizations I work with has been shaky. Majority of the reason being me dealing with some healing and the other part me finding myself.
As I have done this I have become involved in other projects ie: She's So Fresh. This has been one of the best things I have come across this year. It really empowers me to see such strong beautiful talented warm ladies doing their thing in the Hip Hop scene as well as in society. Shout out to Bless, for ever am I thankful for the lessons she has been teaching me.
On another note...finance has made me rethink my plans after I graduate.Law school is still in the agenda but not right after undergrad...and moneywise I wont be suit to cover the expenses. I also been having to deal with so many bills, payments, and money issues that that by itself has thrown me off my course this summer. I guess I need money management class.
Adding to this reflection summery update post, I am glad to share with yall that I am in a relationship (1 month and a week lol not that Im counting)...but yeah I am happy with the decision of getting together with this person and we shall see where it takes me.
I guess I been doing well in terms of the things in my life. School could be better, (I have to catch up with the readings and work) but as time progresses I been able to heal from many things, I been able to take control of the politics and bureacracy of my soul. Each day I have come to realize that anything is possible, and that things dont always have to go as planned as long as you plan to make it through the day.
Sonia G has before her eyes become a young women...this tranformation that I have tried to avoid recognizing deserves to get recognized ... It feels wonderful to actually enjoy life regardless if its hard or nice times.
Talk to ya later folks...

And with that being said, we're having our first fundraiser November 4th at the Rebel Diaz Arts Collective. The flyer is attached and in addition to the info on the flyer, DJ Warren Britt will be DJing and Hipnotic will be hosting. Below is information about our next Soundoff in South Bronx
Sound off for Health Care Reform on October 22nd from 7-9 pm at the Betances Community Center located at 465 St. Ann’s Avenue (6 Train to St. Ann's Avenue), next to the legendary St. Mary’s Park.
Young Voices Nation, Betances Community Center, Freedom Community Center, and Pueblo en Marcha have joined forces to host the third Open Mic Town Hall event to empower our communities to tell Congress that we must have health care reform now!
Come learn about the truth about health care reform and be part of a movement that is working to make history in our generation to reform health care!
Keeping true to his campaign promises of breaking the status quo on education, environment and health care, President Obama has taken radically bold steps to reform health care. The inhumane injustices of our current health care system have activated President Obama to push for health care reform as a priority of national security and the moral imperative for the nation; our current system violates our fundamental basic human rights.
Unfortunately, most of the Republican Congressional leaders have sided with the private health insurance companies that endanger the quality of our care by putting profits over people and they work to stop the process to pass reform. The time to act is NOW to break the stalemate and demand our right for affordable and accessible health care! We need a health care system that provides for all – young and old, rich and poor!
On Thursday, October 22nd help build our movement in any of the following ways:
· Sign our Scrubs! Please donate photos tell your personal stories on our scrubs about why we need health care reform of which we delivered to Washington DC in November. Please visit this link to see our first delivery of our Scrubs to Washington DC on September 23, 2009: http://t.seiu.org/rtq22n.
· C.H.O.I.C.E. Blue Jeans Drive! Please donate gently-worn blue jeans and help the young women of C.H.O.I.C.E. reach their goals of 500 blue jeans before October 31st to be given to the New York Department of Homeless Services.
· Young Invincibles Photo Petition! Be photographed and be part of their petition to call for health care reform now!
We will be providing light food and refreshments.

***check him out on Allhiphop.com Breeding Ground
AllHipHop.com: A lot has been made over how you style your hair. Care to explain?
Wordspit: Since rap is built off a homophobic premiss, everyone expects you to follow the guidelines already set. It's absurd to see a straight male styling his hair in more then just braids. I get a lot of good and bad comments, but at the end of the day, you have to be comfortable with who you are. I know who I am and what I represent - whether in wraps or rollers - love it or hate it.

o_O Boyfriend meets the parents ....
My family and I have a weird relationship...my family is very young and we have our characters. My mother and father, my grandparents, my aunts --all got married at a young age. My uncle (he is like one of my closest friends) is the only single one but he has a daughter....anywho my relationship with my family is an interesting one. With them I grew up learning the meaning of trust, financial help, admiration, hope and also struggle...Its not typical of me to introduce my boyfriends to my family because its like a sacred line Im passing, Im letting you into one of my sacred of things : MY FAMILY. I love them and I deeply care for them, and so with that I dont like to bring in individuals that are not worth it....so TONIGHT , William will meet my parents....Wish me luck guys :)

Voces
I was watching this on NYCTV late in the night.
Many of ya don't know this but I actually play soccer. I played in leagues since I was little but over the years I have stopped, majority of the reason being that I don't have time. Soccer has been part of my life since I was small. Sundays has been devoted to soccer matches at the park, at soccer fields,etc...I am not the only one who plays soccer, my father, my mother, my uncles and aunts all play soccer.
Watching this I realized that one of the things that I Love I have stopped doing, and its about time to go back n start training.
She is def. dope

MELODYEH$ANI, she is a dope designer, I have posted stuff she has done before..but her new collection is dope. Her jewelry is crazy sexy fierce. Check her on Women Making History: Melody Ehsani article.
My prayers go out to her..hope she is doing well..
HOW 2 HANDLE HATERS...
HATER
By: Maya Angelou
A hater is someone who is jealous and envious and spends all their time trying to make you look small so they can look tall.
They are very negative people to say the least. Nothing is ever good enough!
When you make your mark, you will always attract some haters…
That’s why you have to be careful with whom you share your blessings and your dreams, because some folk can’t handle seeing you blessed…
It’s dangerous to be like somebody else… If God wanted you to be like somebody else, He would have given you what He gave them! Right?
You never know what people have gone through to get what they have…
The problem I have with haters is that they see my glory, but they don’t know my story…
If the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence, you can rest assured that the water bill is higher there too!
We’ve all got some haters among us!
Some people envy you because you can:
a) Have a relationship with God
b) Light up a room when you walk in
c) Start your own business
d) Tell a man / woman to hit the curb (if he / she isn’t about the right thing)
e) Raise your children without both parents being in the home
Haters can’t stand to see you happy.
Haters will never want to see you succeed.
Most of our haters are people who are supposed to be on our side.
How do you handle your undercover haters?
You can handle these haters by:
1. Knowing who you are & who your true friends are *(VERY IMPORTANT!!)
2. Having a purpose to your life: Purpose does not mean having a job. You can have a job and still be unfulfilled. A purpose is having a clear sense of what God has called you to be. Your purpose is not defined by what others think about you.
3. By remembering what you have is by divine prerogative and not human manipulation.
Fulfill your dreams! You only have one life to live…when its your time to leave this earth, you ‘want’ to be able to say, ‘I’ve lived my life and fulfilled ‘my’ dreams,… Now I’m ready to go HOME!
When God gives you favor, you can tell your haters, ‘Don’t look at me…Look at Who is in charge of me…’

Mr.Hudson Complex pics.

If ya havent had the chance to listen to his music. please do so..he is a talented individual...and this pic. of him is def. dope.
Via: www.kanyeuniversecity.com/blog
Interview via Hypebeast: We’ve been talking a lot about music, which of course is your expertise, but how much are you into fashion?
Mr.Hudson: I could never afford to be into fashion because I just didn’t have the budget. It was more like charity shop chic and hand-me-downs from my big brothers. 3 big brothers and my dad, so a lot of hand-me-down stuff. I would kind of just make it work, I’d wait until things came back into fashion. But you know, hanging out with Kanye and the guys, they’re really into their clothes, so I have been learning a lot from them. I just got flown out to Paris for fashion week, so its been amazing. I’m learning fast.

Nemiss on She's So Fresh Friday
Nemiss at the Lyricist Lounge
Read the article about her on Dont Miss Out on RoxRevolutions
My fav. part of the article :
Nemiss on what inspires her to write rhymes:
" Such as life .... it is full of characters and actors and drama, tragedy, triumph and war and love and so thats the inspiration.... I aspire to be that woman that Stevie Wonder talked about in"Rocket Love" when he said "A female Shakespeare of her time, with looks to blow Picasso's mind" I mean if looks blew Picasso's that means that she wasn't pretty. That means she was complex and abstract and intresting.... the art God created within the journey of life has inspired me to reflect that; it inspires me to write rhymes about relationships, love and the message that God wants me to give to the masses."

But last night served as a reminder of peace on earth. Last night was the World March for Peace and Non violence kick off concert. Performances vary from Earthdriver, The Citizens, Red Baraat, Choco Orta, and Mahina Movement, Toni Blackman...
Peace on earth folks...as humans we should remember we are all brothers and sisters...peace on earth ..no more war, no more police brutality....
Last night I pledged nonviolence:
I believe that my actions and attitudes do matter, and that by learning how to live non violently, I can make a difference in the world around me..... check out www.worldmarchusa.net
ps. Thank you Will , for sharing such a great experience w/ me. I feel like our bond builds everytime, our soul connects more and more every day.
