The Vagina Monologues...

V-Day is a global movement of grassroots activists dedicated to generating broader attention and funds to stop violence againts women and girls , including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation and sex slavery. V-day raises funds and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler's award winning play The Vagina Monologues and other artistic works. The V-Day movement is growing at a rapid pace throughout the world, in 130 countries from Europe to Asia, Africa and the Caribbean, and all of North America.

Each year V-Day increases awareness by focusing on a specific group of women in the world who are resisting violence with courage and vision. In 2011, V-Day's Spotlight campaign will highlight the high levels of violence against women and girls in haiti, with focus on the increase rates of sexual violence since the devastating earthquake that took place in January 2010. All funds raised through the Spotlight Campaign will be used to support a revolutionary national program in Haiti lead by a coalition of women activists-including longtime V-Day activist Elvire Eugene-that will adress sexual violence through art, advocacy, safe shleter, and legal service.

I am very honored to perform for my second time in the Hunter College The Vagina Monologues. I dedicate my performance to my mother, sister, aunts, grandma and all the special people that are about the empowerement of women. I hope to see you there and hope you enjoy it.
